{"id":3691,"date":"2018-09-04T10:06:56","date_gmt":"2018-09-04T09:06:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.thinkkidneys.nhs.uk\/ckd\/?p=3691"},"modified":"2018-11-21T12:26:12","modified_gmt":"2018-11-21T12:26:12","slug":"putting-data-into-action","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thinkkidneys.nhs.uk\/ckd\/blog\/putting-data-into-action\/","title":{"rendered":"Putting data into action"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Ron Cullen, Chief Executive, Renal Association<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.renalreg.org\/about-us\/strategy-mission\/\">UK Renal Registry\u2019s mission statement, \u201cP<i>utting Data into Action<\/i>\u201d <\/a>aims to improve patient care by national audit and supporting research, innovation and quality improvement (QI).\u00a0 As the quality of the Registry\u2019s data has improved, so has the desire to make a positive difference to kidney patients with the data we collect, and to ensure <i>\u201c<\/i><i>quality assurance and quality improvement is built into all that we do\u201d<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>The QI programmes, delivered through the Registry\u2019s QI facilitators in partnership with the renal community, have been working to deliver on this vision. New innovations have been introduced &#8211; the AKI master patient index, an increasing presence of patient focussed measures both as outcome measures and as tools to support a person centred approach to care, and the Kidney Quality Improvement Partnership which has been rolled out over the past 12 months across five regions and is about to move into the South West and Paediatric renal community this year.\u00a0 This is all part of the challenge and call to action for the public and professionals, within and beyond the renal community to Think Kidneys.<\/p>\n<p>I was heartened at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ukkw.org.uk\/\">UK Kidney Week<\/a> this year\u00a0 to see presentations by the teams involved in the various programmes sharing their learning and experiences, and also to hear the UK Renal Registry mentioned and utilised by other programmes across the country.
