SUMMARY:Question Time: Covid-19 and Dialysis Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Is it safe for me to go into hospital for my dialysis?’ ‘Is home dialysis better?’ ‘How many dialysis patients have caught covid19?’ ‘Am I more at risk?’ ‘What should I be doing to keep myself safe?’ \nKidney Care UK\, the Renal Association\, the British Renal Society and the Association of Nephrology Nurses UK would like to invite you to join this free Zoom webinar for patients\, carers and healthcare professionals. Throughout the pandemic we’ve been hearing from patients and their families regarding concerns about shielding\, work\, holidays\, school\, mental health\, and many more varied and vitally important topics. Now a panel of renal medical professionals including Dr Andrew Frankel and Consultant Nurse Karen Jenkins will be online to answer your questions about coronavirus\, specifically in relation to dialysis. \nDr Frankel has been working as a consultant nephrologist at Imperial College Healthcare NHS trust since 1995. He has experience in managing all aspects of kidney disease but has a particular interest in relation to the management of diabetes in the context of kidney disease. He has been the director Imperial’s Foundation School from its inception to 2010\, London lead for Foundation Training and Postgraduate Dean for south London from 2013 and 2018.  Karen Jenkins is the President of ANNUK and has many years’ experience in renal nursing nephrology\, haemodialysis\, anaemia management\, pre dialysis and research. She has contributed to the development of national guidelines on anaemia management\, chronic kidney disease and haemodialysis. She has an interest in diabetes\, acute kidney injury\, end of life care and involving patients in research. \nClick here to book your place. \nPlease submit questions in advance before by Friday 14th August by sending them to policy@kidneycareuk.org and put ‘Webinar questions’ as the subject. Please note that we will not be able to cover individual treatment issues\, but will be able to cover broader topics through the session.
