On\u00a0Friday 26th August the Think Kidneys programme took to the airways with a 10-minute feature on acute kidney injury on Sky News.<\/p>\n
Sky News had picked up the story, particularly the annual number of deaths associated with AKI and the fact that many could be prevented, from the recently published Patient Safety Alert from NHS Improvement. The Stage 2 alert highlighted the resources available to health and care professionals on the Think Kidneys website developed by the team over the last three years. People\u2019s lack of awareness about their kidneys and the messages in our current campaign for the general public also featured.<\/p>\n
The news item included a short film of Andrew Quille, a patient at the Royal Free Hospital in London who recently experienced an episode of AKI and Dr Chris Laing, Andrew\u2019s consultant and our Think Kidneys team member. Richard Fluck was then interviewed live and talked about the importance of our kidneys for health and life and our campaign encouraging people to \u2018Think Kidneys\u2019.<\/p>\n
