In January 2019, ten renal units across the East and West Midlands began working together to address this unmet need, launching the national quality improvement project, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thinkkidneys.nhs.uk\/kquip\/daylife\/\">DAYLife<\/a>. The projects key objectives are to improve the care of people with end stage renal disease by<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Addressing variation<\/li><li>Reducing unmet need<\/li><li>Improving reliability<\/li><li>Minimising harm for home dialysis therapies<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The project teams from across the East and West Midlands are finding and testing their own solutions, whilst developing quality improvement and leadership skills across the multi-professional teams. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A learning and sharing event took place in May 2019, to bring renal teams, patients and partner organisations back together, share progress, challenges and successes and plan for the next four months of the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thinkkidneys.nhs.uk\/kquip\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2019\/07\/Learning-and-Sharing-event-report-Home-Therapies.pdf\">Read the full event report and view the slide-sets from the day here.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"617\" height=\"66\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thinkkidneys.nhs.uk\/kquip\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2019\/07\/DAYLife-partner-logos.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5999\"\/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Despite national professional guidance and patient groups stating more people wish to dialyse at home there has been little consistent progress towards this in the last 10 years.
