{"id":6091,"date":"2019-06-07T10:17:16","date_gmt":"2019-06-07T09:17:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.thinkkidneys.nhs.uk\/kquip\/?p=6091"},"modified":"2019-07-19T10:25:33","modified_gmt":"2019-07-19T09:25:33","slug":"kquip-reflects-on-uk-kidney-week-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.thinkkidneys.nhs.uk\/kquip\/news\/kquip-reflects-on-uk-kidney-week-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"\ufeffKQuIP reflects on UK Kidney Week 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The team had a busy\nand energising three days in Brighton for UK Kidney Week this year, with the\nprogramme committee putting Quality Improvement in kidney care high on the\nagenda.&nbsp; There were countless sessions\nand work-shops (so many it felt like we were at Glastonbury!) exploring the\nlatest tools available, highlighting QI projects being implemented, and\ndiscussing how the whole community of stakeholders \u2013 patients, industry, commissioning\nand professionals \u2013 can work together to initiate change and improve the\nquality of care for kidney patients across the UK.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It was useful to\nhear about the work going on on the ground, alongside the context of structural\nand systemic initiatives such as the Plenary on \u2018A View From the Top: Kidney\nCare and the Long Term Plan\u2019 (Professor Steve Powis) and the guest lecture on \u2018Using\nStructure and finance to drive quality\u2019 (Dr Clara Day).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just a few of our\npersonal highlights included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>South East KQuIP Regional day.&nbsp; The first morning of UKKW19 got off to an\nenergetic start, with the KQuIP regional half day for Southeast. Over 50\ndelegates joined in lively discussions about the project to implement in the\nregion. After presentations from each of the national priorities, the region\nhas chosen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thinkkidneys.nhs.uk\/kquip\/transplant-first\/\">Transplant First<\/a> as its project, and work\nwill soon start on delivering the Quality Improvement education to those\ninvolved in implementation.<\/li><li>The\nCutting Edge of Quality Improvement \u2013 a packed session (to a packed hall!)\ncovering the Getting it Right First Time initiative, a new quality improvement\ndata collection tool for Transplant First, and the KQuIP \u2018journey so far\u2019\ndetailing the work of the partnership in establishing networks and building QI\ncapability and leadership amongst the multi-professional work-force.<\/li><li>The Fun\nRun \u2013 our team took to the Brighton seafront to tackle the 5k for Kidney\nResearch UK<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"2048\" height=\"1882\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thinkkidneys.nhs.uk\/kquip\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2019\/07\/Fun-run.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6092\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.renalreg.org\/projects\/prem\/\">A Patient Reported Experience Measure<\/a> pop-up session on how units can make the most of their data.&nbsp; This opened out some great discussion and debate and left both the PREM delivery team, as well as the unit teams, food for thought about how we can move beyond measurement and towards improvement of patient experience.<\/li><li>Electronic Patient Reported Outcomes \u2013 state of the art.&nbsp; This session was sharing how technology could support the collection and use of patient reported outcomes into everyday practice, through the use of electronic patient records, PatientView and other new technology.<\/li><li>The gala dinner \u2013 of course!
