Networks

Networks are, typically, loosely structured systems such as clinical networks which span across health boards and/or organisations. Such networks are represented by sets of relationships, personal interactions, and connections among people, which support information flows and are helpful linkages.

Networks continuously grow and develop, as more people join, cultivate relationships and exchange information which is relevant to individual members, groups of members and the entire system.

Networks differ from Communities of Practice as these are structured systems i.e. CoPs tend to be set up to enable a group of experts/practitioners to share their experience, skills and learn from other group members whilst focusing on a problem/issue which needs to be resolved within a specific time frame.
