Value stream mapping

Value Stream Mapping (VSM) is an approach that produces a visual map of a system or process. Value stream mapping is often used by multi-disciplinary teams to improve processes in support of Lean / continuous improvement.

When completed, VSM can be used to identify potential efficiencies, reductions in cost and opportunities to increase quality and productivity. The VSM allows a team to visualise a future state. The team can then develop an improvement plan to make the future state a reality.
